City Students’ Union will be taking part in the NASMA National Student Money Week (NSMW) Campaign commencing February 21 st 2022, and the theme this year is ‘Sustainable Spending’. This is a national campaign meaning that many other Universities around the country will be taking part! With this being the first NSMW City SU is taking part in, we want this to be as exciting and informative as possible so have put together an exciting range of activities led by our Advice Team.

As part of the campaign we will be hosting a competition where students can submit an original written article based on the theme. You could write about food wastage, ethical spending for students, repairing appliances instead of buying new ones, Fairtrade awareness, caring for the environment on a budget’ or anything else theme related that you are passionate about. Be as creative as you like!

The winner will have their article published on our website which is a perfect addition to any creative writer’s portfolio or journalism CV. They will also win a £50 voucher from any outlet of their choice!!

To enter please submit your article to unionadvice@city.ac.uk including your name, student number and School.

The competition will open on 15th February and close 4th March 2022. So, get writing!!

All students who submit an article will also be entered into the wider NSMW prize draw where a £100 voucher can be won. Any participation in NSMW activities guarantees a chance of winning by being entered into the draw, so the more you participate the better chance you have. Some other activities planned include an Eco-Friendly Eating guidance session, credit advice from Barclays Bank, drop in budgeting sessions with our Union Advice team, a ‘guess the shopping basket cost’ challenge, as well as many freebies to give away!
