Society By-Elections explained
Every year, Students’ Unions have to hold elections to determine the committee members for each of its student groups for the following academic year. This is run similarly to the main elections we have for the Sabbatical Officer roles.
All society committee members are elected by their society members each year, and the winners are the ones that lead the society, inform the direction it takes, and run its day-to-day operations.
Each society has elections for the roles of President, Finance Officer, and Communications Officer. You can find information on the roles here.
You must be a standard fully paid member of the society you wish to run and enrolled on a City University course in the academic year you are applying for to nominate yourself for a committee position. Nominations should be submitted on the society election page. Winning candidates assume their roles from the following August 1 to July 31.
Candidates can upload manifestos to support their nomination, and are encouraged to let society members what they plan to do to improve the group.
Committee members can hold the same role for a maximum of two years.
