Blockchain Society

The City University Blockchain Society (CityBlockSoc) was founded by students in 2018-09-03

Our mission has been refined towards fostering a University of London Blockchain ecosystem through the creation of distributed network of students, academics, and industry professionals working within the Blockchain and Cryptosphere.

The goal of the City Blockchain Society is to promote a hub where like-minded individuals, who are interested in learning about the technology, latest developments and advancements, as well as seeking career advice, are openly embraced and supported.

We created the City Blockchain Society as a platform for bridging ecosystems, fostering emergent academic collaboration and forging bonds within this nascent community.

What is Blockchain? Blockchain technology allows value exchange without the need for trust or for a central authority. To date, the most widely discussed application of the technology is Bitcoin; a digital currency which can be used to exchange products and services, like Fiat Currency (USD, EUR, GBP, CNY), and other national currencies. To date, Blockchain is being leveraged in various industries and sectors, such as financial sectors, supply chain transparency, A&C asset class tracking and immutable record keeping, E-government and voting systems, Universal identity and information sectors, as well as various use cases focused on social good.

Blockchain is more quantum leap forward, opposed to digital snake oil for those who understand the technology, if you consider yourself an early adopter and would like to be apart of understanding and learning more about this revolutionary technology please get in touch about joining our society. We look forward to meeting you!
