Last week the Union delivered its biggest training programme than ever before to its Student Leaders. Welcoming over 500 attendees we delivered 8 different information and skills focussed sessions; sessions included Leadership, Event Management and Effective Marketing and Communications to name just a few. All sessions aimed to train and develop our leaders so that they may grow their societies to deliver bigger and better events and opportunities for you!
These sessions further focused on developing key skills, essential not just to student leader’s roles, but throughout their lives when they leave City, University of London and embark on their careers. These sessions also worked towards achieving their Leadership Award which recognises and rewards students for the skills they have developed through attending training sessions and holding a position of responsibility during their time at City.
This new structure of skills specific sessions were well received by our leaders. Feedback included:
“Very useful and informative. Kahoot quiz was very fun and a good break. Task at the end to work out costs was fun and helpful too! All questions and topics were covered.”
(Finance and Budget Management)
“Really enjoyed the session, loved the scenarios – made me more confident.”
With a large proportion of our societies trained in one week we now continue to plan and roll out further training sessions, particularly in evening times to support those who had lecture clashes and are currently on placement.
We have loved getting to know our Student Leaders really well across these training sessions, hearing their brilliant ideas for society activities and seeing them all so engaged! Find a society for you and see them put all their wonderful training into practice here.
