National Student Money Week // 21-25 February 2022

This year Union Advice will be leading on City’s participation in National Student Money week, which takes place 21 - 25 February.

What is National Student Money Week (NSMW)? 

It is a fun campaign run by NASMA (National Association of Student Money Advisors) that many other Universities take part in to increase financial awareness amongst students. This year the theme is ‘Sustainable Spending’! We are excited to deliver a selection on fun and informative events across the week, filled with prizes, freebies and cool discounts.

What's On?

Eco-Friendly Eating Session
Thursday 24 February, 1pm-2pm
Join us in figuring out the most sustainable choices we can make when it comes to our food and minimising waste.

HSBC Bank will be sharing their knowledge to help students better manage their money via the following online workshops:

Sustainable Spending Article Competition
Calling all creative writers and those with a passion for saving the environment! We want you to submit an article based on the theme and the winner will have their article published on our website as well as receiving a £50 voucher of their choice!

Barclays Bank Teaches Money Mentoring 
Wednesday 23 February 1-2pm online or in person.

Barclays Bank will be sharing budgeting tips so you can get the most out of your money. They will be also covering interest free credit cards, so book your spot now. For more details click here


1-1 budgeting advice drop-ins
Everyday between 3-5pm you can drop by the Students’ Union office in Tait building for a 1-1 budgeting advice appointment with a trained advisor. Our advisors are non-judgemental and can help you work through your finances to see where you could be saving money. Simply come to the SU reception during 3-5pm and an advisor will see you subject to availability. If there are no spaces left do not worry, you can book an alternative time by filling in this online form here.


Guess the Shopping Basket!
Come find us on the walkway by EatC1ty in Drysdale Building everyday 11am-4pm, where we will have vegan shopping basket that could be yours. If you guess correctly how much the items cost then you can take it all home, winner winner! The stall will also have plenty of cool sustainable freebies, so come say hi if you’re around!
