Olesea: What I've been up to in the last few months

Happy Thursday! Below you will find a summary of key activities that I undertook since starting my role of the President of City Students' Union. The first two months of my role I've spent mostly in various trainings and getting to know key University Staff and how things are done at City. I've also had a two weeks break to climb Mt Kilimanjaro for a charity back in August.

In September the Students' Union was very busy with organising and delivering Welcome Week events and activities for freshers. I've spent most of October in and out of numerous committees. I'm working on the business plan for my sleeping pods project and researching ways to develop City Communities on campus (soon I'll be asking you to complete a survey to identify the current level of student engagement, so please take part in the survey to express your thoughts).

Students have also brought forward to my attention some issues around cocktails ban at CityBar that I'm trying to fix and Research students who teach who are, unfortunately, not treated fairly at the moment so I'm working in partnership with UCU to make sure that their rights are recognised and fulfilled. I'm also involved in planning and delivering activities for Black History Month, Sustainable City Week, Inter-faith Week, International Festival, etc.

I'll be today on a tour at Cass Bunhill Row so if you see me, please stop to talk to me for few minutes and I'll be one of the judges at tomorrow's Great City Bake-Off event. In case if you will be wondering where I've disappeared, the next two weeks I'll be away fulfilling my civic duty as a jury at the Royal Court of Justice. Please feel free to get in touch either in person or by dropping me a quick email to I'm excited to listen to you and act upon your views.

Let's make City great again :)
