My name is Yavuz, I am one of the Deputy Presidents at City Students' Union.
I graduated from law school in Turkey in 2018 and worked as a lawyer for three years in Istanbul. Then moved to London to pursue a master's degree in law. Since then, I tried to be engaged with the university as much as possible and found myself as a sabbatical officer. I'm really excited to be here and I want to see some real results at the end of my time at the office.
As a Student Union, we believe that our strength comes from being together! So my main priority for this year is to create a sense of community at the university. We will seek to achieve this by offering events that are better than ever in quality and quantity, and by improving the student communities at the university.
We are aware of the impending cost of living crisis. That's why we want to support you in every way possible so that you can focus on your studies and have fun without any worries. For this, we will lobby the university to provide better catering services that offer affordable and healthy food. We will also try to help you with accommodation by facilitating ways to organize and find university flatmates. We will also campaign for more free hours for students in the Saddlers Sports Hall at City Gym. We want all our students to have the opportunity to easily do sports together. We believe playing basketball with some friends or having a volleyball game after a busy day will help your mental health and improve your overall performance in university.
