We're launching CitySucceeds

Kristina your SU President and our Liberation Officers have launched City Succeeds, here's why and how to get involved!

One of the Students’ Union’s goals this year is to introduce effective methods of support for City’s diverse range of students, through career and employability sessions/workshops/talks. We want to ensure the support students receive is bespoke to them and their career goals. To achieve this, we have introduced the ‘City Succeeds’ campaign.

Throughout this year, the Students’ Union President and Liberation Officers will be organising various workshops and talks with leading industry professionals. These will not only support students in achieving their goals and realising their potential but will also create a platform for networking with professionals and like-minded peers.

The first event as part of the ‘City Succeeds’ campaign is organised by BME officer Surrah Mehdi in partnership with the Big 4’s Deloitte and aimed at supporting City’s BAME students. This event will help you discover more about the graduate career paths and schemes available to you with Deloitte. During the event, students will be split into groups and assigned various tasks, aimed at demonstrating what life is like working for one of the Big 4, under the supervision and guidance of their staff/employees/representatives.

Date: 20th of November
Location: Courtyard Cafe
Time: 4-6pm

Another event as a part of City Succeeds is created by International Students’ Officer Danil Kocherga specifically for International students, who are looking for employers who have sponsorship opportunities. This is a panel discussion, which will help international students to find out about different visa cases and careers paths after graduation. There will be a huge variety of stories told by recent graduates, who have successfully secured tier 1, tier 5 and tier 2 working visas in the UK. We have professionals from the law and presenters from platforms which are specialists when hiring international students. Students will be able to ask panellists any questions and share their experience with the peers.
