Refund Policy

City Students’ Union Refund Policy

This refund policy applies to any online transactions through our website citystudents.co.uk and events.citystudents.co.uk

When you buy goods from us, in law you have a number of rights as a consumer. These include the right to claim a refund, replacement, repair and/or compensation where the goods are faulty or misdescribed.

Your rights can vary depending on the type of item you purchase:

Events tickets

If the event you have booked is cancelled, you are entitled to a refund of the face value of the ticket. This will normally be processed centrally when we are notified of an event cancellation. Please note that relocation of the event to a different venue will not qualify for a refund unless the capacity of the new venue is less than the number of ticket holders.

If an event has been stopped while in progress due to circumstances beyond our control which may be deemed as too unsafe to continue. In this instance, a decision will be made by management as to whether refunds will be offered to those with tickets. However, refunds will only be given in special circumstances and as approved by management.

If an event is rescheduled to another date, your tickets will be valid. If you can't make the rescheduled date, then you're entitled to a refund of the face value of the ticket.

Refunds may also be given if an event has sold out, and there are people waiting for extra tickets a refund.

All event ticket refunds should be requested through the events.citystudents.co.uk website.

There are no other instances in which a refund can be offered. If you can no longer attend an event or you've simply changed your mind about going, you will not be entitled to a refund.

If you have a question please contact studentsunion@city.ac.uk

Memberships

If one of the Student Groups (Society or Student Media) you join, don’t deliver what you believe you were promised, you may be entitled to a refund. All members can be refunded within 14 days off purchase.

After 14 days, here is our advice on how to request a refund with your Student Group:

1. We encourage you to try to resolve the issue with the Student Group Committee in the first instance. Try contacting them on WhatsApp or through their student group email.

2. If the group doesn't deliver what you believe you were promised, you should request a refund in writing to studentsunion@city.ac.uk copy in the student group explaining.

Shop For all purchases through the City Students’ Union Shop, please refer to the City Students’ Union Shop Refund Policy.
